Band

R. L.

lead vocalist

I have always enjoyed music and singing, even when sober. I was a little surprised when the guys asked me to sing in Aviator. It was a huge step for me to take, but I am really glad that I threw myself to the danger zone. Being a part of this awesome group feels so cool and rewarding.

I am a natural born singer, not that I was born to be a singer, but learned in the school of life (say karaoke-stage). I have always felt it quite easy to sing along with the songs from the radio, but singing in front of the band is something else. There is still a lot to learn. As a singer I like to push my limits and the best place to do that is actually on the stage.

I have my flaws, but rock is about the attitude. That I have! No song or verse shouldn't be sung without a feeling. That also makes the performance, and I think the audience notices, if your not singing from the soul. The vocalist takes a lot of attention during a live show, that is also something to get used to, but I have found my ways to entertain, perhaps with some groovy dance moves or costumes.

bass, guitars

Music has always been a big part of my life. As a youngster when guys in the neighbourhood tortured their mopeds, I created equally loud noises with my bass and guitar.

I used to play a lot with my father, who was a skilled pianist. Songs we played were anything but rock. Playing old pieces of music was great fun, but after hearing for the first time raw sounds of Geordie and Nazareth, I was completely sold...

My musical influences originate from hard rock and especially from bands like Deep Purple, Guns N' Roses, Peer Gynt etc.

When you find the musical genre of your own there is no reason to switch it, right?

drums

My musical enthusiasm started as a kid when I was listening to vacuum tube radio, and trying to find some rock 'n roll music from those sole two Finnish radio stations that there were at the time. At last, it was found from a sizzling radio station - Radio Luxemburg.

Early teenage years I took my first steps in playing together with my school mates. While mates were playing real guitars, I was trying to prove my motivation to my dad by playing mom's pots and pans. Finally, I got my first drum set and we formed a real band!

Now as a "veteran drummer" (40 years later), Aviator guys gave me the reason to dig up my drum sticks from naphthalene (so to say), and a chance to play rock music I like - and play it loud!

guitars, bass, backing vocals

I used to play a flute while I was a boy but every time I played it, I knew all the time it's not rock 'n roll. Fortunately, I found a very good and proper way to get rid of "that pipe". At that moment my "rock 'n roll seed" was planted and I got my first acoustic Landola.

My favorite music scale has always been very wide, focusing to Eppu Normaali and Dire Straits, punk and heavy rock such as Misfits and Bad Religion, Deep Purple and Guns 'n Roses, Ghost and Sentenced, Mustasch etc.

Playing in this band Aviator represents something wild and totally opposite to our daily life. It is awesome great fun for us too. I wish Aviator Rock (...Cocks) Roosters could offer a plenty of unforgettable and incredible experiences to you who are interested enjoying a wild rock 'n roll music and atmosphere.

Watch out, and keep your pants on when Aviator plays!

guitars, backing vocals

My musical awakening happened at the age of 12 when I got an acoustic Landola guitar in my arms for the first time in my life at school's music lesson. There was a break between lessons when everybody else went out and I just couldn't stop trying to learn Elvis Presley's Love Me Tender, a song that was in school's music book.

I got my first summer job at the age of 14 and guess what, I spent all that money for an used Washburn electric guitar and a Marshall amplifier. I still remember that trip to Kemijärvi city with my mother like it was yesterday, when I bought those instruments. I guess the local band who sold those instruments for me was called Pohjantähti.

During high school I had always just rush to back home to play the guitar. It was all that mattered. I guess that's how I survived through teenage anxiety. My mother listened a lot rock and blues type of music at home and in a car, so it influenced also me. To mention just a few guitarists that have inspired me, they are Kirk Hammett, Gary Moore, Ritchie Blackmore, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jeff Healey and Jimi Hendrix.

I'm so happy that life is after a long period of time in a stage when I have more time for this kind of hobby I have always loved and that we got this group established. This band is more than just music, it's also deep (and very much less deep) talks with those great guys and friendship.
